Returning to the Sequoia tree

redwingheritage:

On his weekend trekking , Gianni came across this Sequoia tree, a rare species in the Italian landscape. Being a Red Wing fan, he knows his bits and pieces on our history, as this picture tells!

In 1952, we introduced style 877, which marked the break-through for Red Wing Shoes worldwide. It was built with Oro Russet leather, which was tanned using the sap of Californian Sequoia tree-bark.

There’s something about the way a pair of women’s raw denim—worn by a woman, of course—breaks in that makes me wonder two things: 1. Why aren’t there more brands catering to the female species? and 2. Why aren’t more chicks into raw denim?! Then it hit me… Not to be sexist or anything, but I imagine the thought of wearing the same pair of jeans for months on end without a single wash is a bit gross to the average woman. That’s the thing though, raw denim isn’t for the average woman. You’ve gotta be one badass chick to get through those first few weeks of agonizing discomfort, but take one look at the fine example above and you’ll see that it’s alll worth it in the long run. I have no idea what she looks like, but the little lady responsible for these fades is already a solid 7.5 solely based off of her magnificent work here (and tiny Red Wing boots).

Amen.
